Community Leader

Matt Engle sets a standard high for community involvement in the Las Vegas area.  Currently, Matt is the Board Chair with the Las Vegas Natural History Museum and leading its Expansion Committee to triple the size of the museum by 2020. Matt has also been an active leader in the UNLV Alumni Association since 2006. Matt has assumed various roles in the association, and is a Past President, having served as President from 2010 - 2012.  During his tenture as President, Matt worked to increase membership and participation of the Alumni Association while creating a synergy with the university to recruit students to enroll and attend UNLV.

In May 2012, Matt played a vital and leadership role in the launch of the Rebel Business Network. As the founder of the initiative, Matt is helping fellow alumni connect with one another professionally and providing a venue for UNLV to connect with the local business community.

When Matt isn’t busy spreading his passion for his university, you can find him volunteering within the Las Vegas community among several different organizations.  Matt has sat on the board of five non-profit organizations and charied three:

In 2005, Matt was named the recipent of the AAA Volunteer of the Year Award.  Matt was awarded this pretegious honor because of the following effort:

  • He organized and conducted child safety seat inspections at his office over the course of five years
  • He volunteered his time and dedication to fingerprint community children
  • He planned and recruited his co-workers to participate in the Race for the Cure charity run
  • He created a float for the Summerlin 4th of July Parade
  • He partnered with Opportunity Village for their annual Halloween celebration and built a AAA Pirate Ship for the effort
